The 1-on-1 test is a single-shot technique for a
“non-fatigue” LIDT determination.
Test procedure:
It is a destructive testing based on laser-induced damage statistics.
The optical element's entrance surface is divided into test sites forming a
virtual matrix. Each site within a fixed set is individually exposed to a
single laser pulse at a constant peak fluence. A fluence is increasing
incrementally for different sets of test samples. After exposure, the status of all test sites is
inspected using offline DIC microscopy. The LIDT is estimated by fitting damage
probability statistics versus applied pulse energy relation using an
appropriate extrapolation model.
For CW irradiation: the 1(Time)-on-1
test can be repeated using different exposure times (30s-on-1, 10s-on-1, etc.)
