The raster scan pass/fail acceptance test separates "good" optics from "bad"
under required irradiation conditions, when defect driven damage dominates.
Test procedure:
To perform the raster scan Pass/Fail acceptance test procedure, a specific area (default 1 cm²) is selected
within the test area. The area is then scanned to a fixed laser
irradiation level appropriate for the specific application. If all scanned area withstand the irradiation without sustaining damage or deterioration, the sample is
certified as “passed” and deemed suitable for further use. Conversely,
in case of any damage initiation, it is classified as “failed” and does
not meet the specifications for the intended application.
Note: the procedure is fast and non-destructive for good optical
elements.
